The current Ticino curriculum for compulsory school (Kindergarden up to 9th grade) assigns computer science to the interdisciplinary competence area of “Technology and Media”. Read Dr Masiar Babazadeh’s article below to find out how computer science fits into the curriculum and how teachers can introduce computer science through playful or game-based learning activities.
In the Ticino curriculum, computer science does not have the status of an independent subject, but is regarded as a “soft skill” that is taught in various subjects in appropriate learning contexts. The curriculum stipulates that students should be able to familiarise themselves with computer science and use it appropriately.
